FREE THE PARK FROM LITTER

a family fun event on September 8^th

at the Park Visitor Centre on September 8th, 9.45 until 2.00

On Sunday 8th September we are holding a free, fun event for all the family, with two special activities for children. Both aim to make everyone aware of litter problems in the Park, and help them encourage others to bin their litter or take it home.

– a poster design competition for children : prizes will be awarded and street artist Katie O will paint the winning designs on one of the Park’s main paths.

– a hands-on creative workshop : local eco-artist Beth Zeen will help children and adults to create their own special eco-artwork, turning litter and other discarded items into something beautiful.

You can also buy Friends’ merchandise and we’ll be encouraging people to join our mission to promote and maintain our beautiful Park.

Do come along and enjoy this free event at the Park Visitor Centre on September 8th, 9.45 until 12.00

SENSORY GARDEN 2024 VOLUNTEER SESSION

Wednesday and Saturday afternoons,

in the Sensory Garden

Come and enjoy a bit of gardeing with some friends! All sessions run from 2pm to 5pm. You are welcome to any session you can make – and free to come and go to suit your plans.

The Sensory Garden volunteer sessions for the rest of the year will be on the following dates:

March: Sat 2nd, Wed 13th, Sat 23rd
April: Wed 3rd, Sat 13th, Wed 24th
May: Sat 4th, Wed 15th Sat 25th
June: Wed 5th, Sat 15th, Wed 26th
July: Sat 6th, Wed 17th, Sat27th
Aug: Wed 7th, Sat 17th, Wed 28th
Sept: Sat 7th, Wed 18th, Sat 28th
Oct: Wed 9th, Sat 19th, Wed 30th
Nov: Sat 9th, Wed 20th, Sat 30th

Note that if the weather forecast is very bad, the session is likely to be cancelled.

LITTER PICK

08:30, Sunday 7th April 2024

at the Visitor Centre

Please come and join us for another litter pick to help our park staff keep our beautiful park clean and tidy. Everyone welcome. Followed by some free refreshments.

Litter picks will usually be on the first Sunday of the month at 08:30. The provisional dates for the other litter picks of 2024 are:

7th April, 5th May, 2nd June, 7th July, 4th August, 8th September and 6th October.

The July pick in particular may need to be moved to avoid the Godiva Festival.

FWMP ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

13:30, Saturday 13th April 2024

at the Visitor Centre

We meet regularly to plan projects and discuss park issues. Please cone and join us if you can spare some time to help maintain and promote our beautiful park. All welcome.

The dates for the remainimg General Meetings in 2024 for the Friends of the War Memorial Park will take place in the Visitor Centre form 1:30pm to 3:30pm on the following dates:
